If you haven't been in the job market for many years (or even if you have,) it's likely that your LinkedIn profile is not optimized to organically draw the right kind of attention from recruiters. Worse yet, it may not be drawing ANY attention.
Headlines in profiles are notoriously clogged with wasted business monikers like "Thought Leader" and "Innovator." Put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter looking to find a "Senior Director of Marketing" or "Information Security Analyst." Your profile will not be on the radar, despite your past job titles. Same with the "About" section. LinkedIn gives you 2400 glorious characters to load with the keywords recruiters hunger for in their candidate searches. "Storyteller," "dream weaver," and "pace setter" are not among them.
