Assessments: A Great Place to Start

It Begins with Your Question or Problem

What do I want to do for work? I'm short on career ideas! What kind of job would inspire me? Could I even find a job like this? And if I did, could I make a decent living?

Whether you're burned out or just ready for a change, career assessments can be extremely valuable. Whether you use the assessments alone, or in tandem with the Firework™ career coaching framework, you will be leveraging data-driven insights and methods to reinvent your professional self. One aligned with WHO YOU ARE, not just what like and are good at.

Carve a Path to Your Best Job Ever!

If you already have firm career ideas and a plan to get there, fantabulous! But many aren't sure and seek career coaching to sort it out. Others thought they were sure until they tried a field of work and decided, nope! Not for me!

We can explore your preferences and interests through career assessments and then leverage your awareness to generate a wide field of possibilities that may not have occurred to you.

Career Interest Assessments and Personal Values Assessments

The right assessments can reveal themes in career ideas to consider while helping you look at the picture more objectively. If you are unsure of your desired direction, or seek validation for a career choice already made, these assessments are powerful tools to inform your work during  the earlier phase of career coaching.

Strong Certified

The Strong Interest Inventory 244 Career Assessment

The "Strong" is one of the world’s most widely respected and frequently used career exploration tools. In both business and academic settings, it helps anyone considering a career change or seeking support in their search for a rich and fulfilling job.

Developed by psychologist E.K. Strong in 1927 and continually refined and validated since, the new Strong Interest Inventory® 244 Career Satisfaction Report was updated in May 2023. The Strong is a powerful tool that compares your interests with the interests of those who are satisfied in their work, revealing the likeliness of your job satisfaction in (you guessed it,) 244 unique job roles in every field imaginable. The accuracy of the results has been validated over a diverse sample of 100,000 working professionals in the USA, split evenly by gender. Your coach helps you interpret your results and apply your insights in a rich and compelling way.

Whether you simply want to validate a new career direction you have already chosen, or you're starting from scratch from "I have no idea what I want to do," the Strong is an excellent investment in your career transition efforts.

Note that the Strong does not have "right" or "wrong" answers and it does not measure abilities or predict aptitude. Rather, it predicts the likelihood of career satisfaction based on matching interests to those who report being happy in their chosen careers.

mbti

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

Possibly, you already know your MBTI "type" having completed this assessment in school or with a past employer. Or maybe you found something similar online as there are many copy-cat versions referring to the 16 "types.” Note that these free versions are not backed by the same level of research as the authentic MBTI.

When MBTI results are interpreted in tandem with Strong Interest Inventory results, a new lens brings focus on preferences and interests.

I have over 20 years of experience interpreting these instruments and I am a MBTI Master Practitioner which requires extensive training and application of the MBTI beyond regular certification.  Note: I do not utilize free online copy-cats of MBTI in my practice. The genuine MBTI is an inexpensive tool.

MBTI STEP II

MBTI Step II is a deeper dive in the nuances of your MBTI preferences, beyond the simple 4-letter type (such as “ENFP” or “ISTJ” etc.) The Type II "facets" bring additional nuance to the MBTI discussion in the context of your career coaching. Each letter pair is comprised 5 facets, helping those "on the fence" between types understand where and how their preferences diverge from their preferred type.

Personal Values Assessment

The more aligned one's career choice is to their personal values, the higher the likelihood there is for long term career satisfaction. A personal values assessment helps you to identify and prioritize your personal values so that you are able to consider and evaluate potential career matches through the lens of what matters most to you.

Career ideas await!

Let's explore how the right career assessments might support your efforts to figure out what's next for you.
